The gallery was opened in 1963 in a 17th-century Renaissance-Baroque palace and is named after Branislav De\u0161kovi\u0107, a sculptor from Pu\u010di\u0161\u0107a known for his realistic animal sculptures, especially dogs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-image\"><img data-dominant-color=\"878c8b\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #878c8b;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-527 not-transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/bol.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3-768x1024.avif\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bol.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3-768x1023.avif 768w, https:\/\/bol.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3-450x600.avif 450w, https:\/\/bol.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3.avif 860w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The gallery\u2019s collection includes more than 400 works of modern and contemporary art, making it the most valuable collection of Croatian painting and sculpture of the 20th century on the Adriatic islands. On the ground floor are sculptures by great Croatian sculptors \u2013 from Ivan Rendi\u0107 and Ivan Me\u0161trovi\u0107 to Antun Augustin\u010di\u0107 and De\u0161kovi\u0107 himself \u2013 while the upper floors house a rich collection of paintings by renowned modernists such as Ignjat Job, Emanuel Vidovi\u0107, Ljubo Ivan\u010di\u0107, Juraj Plan\u010di\u0107, Edo Murti\u0107, and many others.<\/p>\n<p>A special value of the collection lies in its connection with the Mediterranean.
